Oh, What FunAs I continue my journey along the Lewis and Clark trail, I made my way into Sioux City, IA to the interpretive center. Although the section that I went through regarding the expedition is setup for children and teens, I took advantage of it anyway. The interpretive center offers a visitors’ guidebook as well as a 70-page booklet titled, Lewis & Clark in Iowa. This place was fantastic! So much more informative than some of the other L&C places (maybe we haven’t been to most?). Anyway, this had a LOT of exhibits and explanations of why, where, and what happened during the journey. Nice layout inside with “talking” men telling us about their journey. There was a terrific statue outside that really was dramatic.

We were told they have robots - and they didn't disappoint!! Their wax figure robots telling stories was REALLY neat! We listened to all of them, read the display items, and it inspired us to visit Floyd's final resting place. We spent about 30 minutes there (two adults). The metal sculptures outside were cool, we loved how they all had scarves on them to keep them warm!

The Sioux City Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center and the Betty Strong Encounter Center comprise an almost 20,000-square-foot, private, non-profit cultural complex, built and sustained by Missouri River Historical Development, Inc. (MRHD).The Interpretive Center opened in 2002 to commemorate the Lewis & Clark Bicentennial. It expanded in late 2007 with the opening of the adjoining Betty Strong Encounter Center to fulfill a permanent mission of “commemorating a history of encounters before, during and after the expedition.” There is no admission fee.
