About Hotel Manning - Riverview Inn and Standard Motor Lodge
Hotel Manning - Riverview Inn and Standard Motor Lodge offers a unique and relaxing lodging experience with stunning views of the Des Moines River. Originally built in the 1830s and rebuilt after a fire, the hotel is well-maintained by local investors who take pride in their property. Guests enjoy clean and comfortable rooms, each with a different theme, featuring modern amenities like a pod-style coffeemaker, fridge/freezer, and microwave. The hotel has a cozy bar and an inviting outdoor sitting area, perfect for enjoying a drink while taking in the scenery. Many visitors have noted the charming atmosphere, with creaky floors and a sense of stepping back in time. While there are some minor inconveniences, such as limited food options and spotty internet, the welcoming staff and overall experience make this destination highly recommended for a weekend getaway. Guests can also enjoy the walkable nearby bars and diners, and many have highlighted the excellent breakfast at Great Day Cafe.
Gorgeous hotel with so much history and amazing sunrise views over the river. Very creaky floorboards which is an added quirk! Comfortable and relaxing although I did need earplugs as I like a silent sleep. We happened to arrive on a Thursday when there was a food truck and jazz event which was great! Local pizza place and ice cream/breakfast place were a big hit. Also check out the flower/gift store while you’re in town.
10/10 – Hotel Manning
In town working on horse sale content for St. Clair Performance Horses, I was told I had to stay at Hotel Manning—and I’m so glad I did. From the moment I walked in, the people were warm and welcoming. The bar was buzzing with live music that night, and it set the perfect tone after a long day behind the camera.
The hotel itself is a piece of living history with its beautiful Steamboat Gothic style, but it doesn’t feel stuffy—it feels alive, thanks to the community that keeps it going. Cozy, friendly, and full of charm, it was the perfect little place to crash for the night.
Highly recommend this spot if you ever find...read full review
Super cool historic hotel in Keosaqua, Iowa. The floors creak and a marble will roll forever. It's perfect!
Our room, the John F. Lacey overlooked the Des Moines river and we had access to the second floor veranda, which was awesome to sit out in at night and first thing in the morning!
The staff person, Joanie, was pleasant and easy to work with when we decided to upgrade our room to the Lacey room.
Overall a good experience!
