Hi Danny, I love seeing the pictures of the homes and would like to talk with you about what I can get for my budget. I have left three phone messages at the Hawaiian phone number, but have not heard back. Please call me. You will find my calls on your message line. Thank you!
My wife and I are in the process of building our retirement home on the Big Island. It has been a daunting experience to say the least. We had originally started with an architect to design a home for us, and while the design was very nice, it was in many ways similar to a lot of the homes on the islands. I originally found Teak Bali when I was looking for ideas to add pizzazz to the design. I had seen beautiful carved teak homes when I was in Bali years ago, so I searched for this as an inspiration. Little did I know I could have one made. I contacted Danny, and he took me to a home that was in the process of being built. One touch of the hard smooth wood and I knew this is what I wanted for my home. The wood is as hard as iron, but smooth and pleasant to the touch. Danny agreed to look at the the plans that we had, and was able to convert it into a beautiful hardwood home. Teak-Bali took care of converting the custom design to Bali style from start to finish. I have posted pictures of the framing when my wife and I visited it in Indonesia. Danny has been a first rate partner in this. He has always ALWAYS delivered on his promises. Unlike just about every other aspect of building a house in Hawaii, there were absolutely no surprises when dealing with Teak Bali. When the time comes, I will have Danny fashion all the custom cabinets for the house as well. We are very pleased.
I am writing this letter to inform potential customers what they can hope to attain from their experience with Teak-Bali. I purchased a house kit from Tom, Danny, and Marchand in 2004 after being informed about their Hawaii Hardwood Homes by a mutual friend. I owned property on the Big Island and was searching for an easy to assemble kit home that would be suitable for both vacation and retirement. I had looked extensively at each local lumber store's “all inclusive packages†as well as a few independent pre-manufactured home offerings. The local “kit homes†while seemingly affordable initially became much less so when all the costs of construction and contractors were figured into the equation. Not to mention, when the house was completed all you had was a cookie cutter kit home like every other one on the block. Perfectly habitable, mind you, but lacking heart and void of character. The other options I looked at were firms such as Lindal Cedar Homes and Multi-Faceted Homes. Each offered a more attractive product than the lumber store's did, but the package prices were astoundingly expensive. So much so that I would've had spent almost my entire budget on the kit itself, leaving next to nothing for construction. I was in a real quandary as to how to proceed now. I thought of just putting up a simple “garage/ohana†that I could utilize for shelter until I could afford the home I could live in……. at a price I could live with! I was now frustrated and questioning if this was even a realistic project to attempt. This is where Teak-Bali came into my life. A well trusted friend told me of Tom, Danny, and Marchand's venture and gave me their email address. We began to correspond with each other immediately, I informing them of my needs and they kept replying with their different models of Balinese Homes. I was immediately intrigued and my hopes soared. Suddenly I began to believe in my dream of a home in Hawaii again. Teak Bali offered beautiful products that made statements solely by themselves. Homes that exuded permanence grace, and harmony……homes that reached my heart and inspired my mind. My dream not only regained life…..it became attainable…it became affordable….and as I write this ….it is reality. This has as much to do with the people I met as with their product itself. From the very beginning they went out of their way to accommodate my needs and to help me with the process of building a home on the Big Island. This included design, purchase, shipping, blueprints, on site delivery and even permitting. It must be said here that I am not a contractor, not a carpenter, and have never even worked in any form of home construction…..shoot…I don't even live in Hawaii! Without them I would've been stranger in a stranger land trying to speak a language I had never heard. They worked tirelessly on design and permitting, in particular, and cleared the way for me and a crew of experienced friends to begin construction in January of 2006. In 6 weeks my house was fully erected and dried in. This means walls, doors, windows, and the roof are intact and installed…weather tight and safe from the elements. Sticking to my budget I completed my home “out of pocketâ€, and finished the trim, plumbing, and painting as I could afford and by “working vacationsâ€. I now own a beautiful, unique, and heart filled home in Hawaii free and clear! Tom and his crew not only stuck with me throughout the entire process, they have become some of my very best friends. We still correspond regularly and visit when I'm on island. I recently bought an adjoining piece of acreage and in the future there is nothing I would rather do more than erect an Ohana/Yoga Studio with another product from their line. Nothing else will do now……I found value, beauty, and quality in their homes…..and integrity, passion, and care in their work. In the end it has come to be much more than building a lovely home…..it is living a loving life. Thank you, Tom. Thank you, Danny. Thank you, Marchand.
