Turns out they’ve been around for quite a while but I’ve never heard of them until recently. A friend experienced one of their products while abroad a domestic Hawaiian Airlines flight and told me about these chips that “Tasted like Maui Potato Chips with furikake”.KITCH’N COOK’D:Being a Maui boy, this slogan is very familiar to me as it adorned the bags of our infamous (and now sadly defunct, Maui Potato Chips). Wow! I'm so glad I picked up the furikake chips in a Kona grocery store. Best chips I've ever had. Thick cut but not greasy. So addictive I wiped out the bag in one sitting, and figured out how many bags I could order for $20 shipping back to the mainland. Love the company story, too.
amazing chips and snack foods in an unassuming building where you have to walk in to actually know what's going on.it almost felt like a snack food showroom, where they have many items displayed, from those they make in house to some that are produced on the hilo side. regardless, these are THE BEST CHIPS around, and there's a variety of flavor options. i ended up buying the spicy bbq and shrimp furikake as a gift. we also got a bag of plain which were fabulous.the man who i talked to while there was super nice and explained many of the products.i'm so glad we decided to stop and venture in; it reminded me of the small cottage industry establishment taro ko in hanapepe...read full review
