Took my shihpoo here after an unfortunate accident. They took her to the exam room upon our arrival to take her vitals. Since I was a walkin, it took about 3 hours before I was able to leave. However, I was pleased with the thorough care of the doctors and the professionalism of the team. It's too far for me to return for a regular very visit but it was great for an emergency.
I see too many negative reviews, based solely on price. Look, this is a 24 hr emergency hospital. they are by nature, going to cost a good deal, having Vets on call, 24hrs A day.. injury, snake bite, etc, and want to save your pet ? youre going to need an emergency Vet most of the time. so, our dog, Caramelo, got bit in the head by a copperhead, late on a Saturday afternoon, about 1 month ago. This was the closest Emergency Vet. We had actually used another Emergency Vet, towards Fayetteville, 5 yrs ago, but, WONT go to that one again, surgery without Xrays for a blockage that no longer existed, so yea..long story, not related to this Veterinary clinic. But, got him to this Vet, told him it was a poisonous snake bite, got him in right away. YES- the showed us the COST, in detail, of what might have to happen, close to $2900 for "worst case" scenario. Our reply ? Just DO whatever it takes.. period.. they got him anti venom ( NOT ALL VETS CARRY ANTI VENOM FOR SNAKE BITES, dont ASSUME YOURS DOES, check first !!!!). got him on IV for dehydration, antibiotics, inflammatory meds. We had an appt with his normal Vet on Monday, 2 days later. We brought all the paperwork on his treatment, tests, etc ( Woodland provided ALL of this, in great detail for us when we picked him up the next day ). his regular Vet said he got the best care he could have, best meds, and no, HE DIDNT HAVE ANTI VENOM, so it would have cost valuable time to get it, had we tried to take him there in the 1st place. Woodland/Drs/Staff kept us informed, we waited patiently, another dog came in who also got bitten by a poisonous snake, and was in much worse shape, but again, our dog already got the anti venom, so was only waiting on some antibiotics, and IV for later on, he was not put in any danger or discomfort. the provided Pain meds, Anti biotics scripts, instructions, what to watch for, call if at anytime things start looking bad, etc. Nothing but 5 stars for his care, and caring for Caramelo. and, got back some $1200 in a refund, as they only charged for what they needed to. YES- they could have kept the $2900 or so, and we would have just gone and paid it. but they DIDNT- they refunded to the CC, what they actually had to do, use, prescribe, etc. i think some reviews are based on emotion, costs, and even about an animal that was already past saving. I cant see how this place could possibly do MORE for our dog than they did, and yes, they had other animals waiting, But, like a true ER- they take the worst FIRST.. thats what an ER Dr does, and staff.. your pet, may have past the point of no return, and they could only do so much, or perhaps, nothing at all... but if the BILL is too much for you to handle, you cant blame the Vet or staff, for not doing what you WONT authorize.. So a final heads up on just the reality of costs.. $1500-$3000 is what you can expect.. for any genuine emergency treatment. toss in surgery if needed ?? maybe now its $5000... its your call if you want or can, pay that. if you value your pet, GET PET HEALTH INSURANCE, yes, its a real thing. ours kicked in $1000 towards the final bill, which was $1700 and change. its well worth looking into.. just a PSA for pet lovers..
We recently moved to Locust Grove and obtained a puppy soon after. The Woodland Animal Hospital is less than two miles from our home. We have visited twice and each time were met with outstanding customer service by Ms. Lula at the front desk. Dr's Johnson and Davis rendered exceptional and genuine care for our puppy. We look forward to working with this organization in years to come. Sincerely, Brian E. PhD
