Dalton Home Center at 4995 North Henry Blvd in Stockbridge did an excellent work on assisting us selecting our carpet and the installation of the carpet. We have a 3 br 2 ba home in the Morrow area and needed new carpet installed, but since we occupy the home it is a little bit challenging. We spoke with Empire, whose choices were few, and even with the 1/2 off sale the price was too high. They lowered the price twice and it was only good for that visit but was still too expensive. I've worked with Home Depot in the past and ended up with too many contacts making for a very confusing project. After shopping around, I liked the shopping experience at Dalton Home Center in Stockbridge. I saw a lot of samples of quality carpet, (Mohawk, Dreamweaver,…) and the prices were within our budget. I brought my wife to look at the carpets and we met with Carlene. We looked at the different grades of carpet, types of carpet padding. Carlene took the time to answer all of our questions and to explain the differences. We both liked the DreamWeaver Luxor II Cinnamon Tea carpet. We couldn’t do the whole house at once but wanted to do the Living Room, hallway, and master bedroom (owner’s suite) first, then we needed two or three months to prepare the other two bedrooms. Because of our age & health we couldn’t move all of the furniture out of the room but we did empty all drawers and cleared everything off the furniture. There was a charge to move any furniture left in the rooms but it was very reasonable. While some places felt it made things complicated, Carlene said “No Problem”. She did point out there would be a nominal delivery fee for the order(s) placed after the first one, which was fair since they would be charged a delivery fee. The second issue is that they couldn’t guarantee a perfect match when you order the carpet months later since it might be coming from a different batch. Our carpet had a blend of colors (grey, tan, black,…), Also, we would be merging at the bedroom to hallway connection, (turned out it was a perfect match, but it was nice to know the possibilities). So we put down a 50% deposit with the balance due after installation. While others really wanted to do it all at once, Carlene understood our challenges and worked with us to make this happen. A few days later Carlene called us and arranged the measurement, then later to present us a quote. We were happy with the quote, stopped by to sign the work order and pay the deposit. A couple days later Carlene called to schedule the work. The workers showed up on time, moved the furniture, removed the old carpet, installed the new carpet, and put the furniture back in the room just as we had it; no scratches on the furniture or on our freshly painted walls. We wrote a check for the balance. A few months later we went in and wrote up the work for Phase 2 and paid a deposit. The second phase went just as well as the first phase and we paid the balance at the end of the installation. Things that made this project so good was (1) It was very easy to look at all the choices and have all our questions answered by someone who is experienced and knew the product. (2) We had “One Contact”, who was Carlene. She made all the arrangements and everything was done so timely. (3) Carlene was able to work with us on our challenges and willing to make our carpet installation happy. (4) Carpet Installers were at the job on time, done great work, and cleaned the job site very well. We are very happy with the carpet and padding we selected, the planning and installation of the carpet, and the overall experience. Great job to Carlene and everyone involved. We will go to Dalton Home Center and refer them to our friends as well.
