“I went to Steven at Fairchild after spending months trying to grow out highlights I had gotten to disguise gray. The lightening had left my texture in bad shape and I needed to get back to brunette with full gray coverage in one appointment, which is a harder ask than it sounds.

Steven handled it exactly right. He filled the previously lightened sections before putting the brunette back so the color has real depth instead of going flat and ashy, and he formulated the root separately for the gray. The result is dimensional and looks like my actual hair color, and my hair feels better coming out than it did going in. He also explained what he was doing at every step, which I appreciated after a few appointments elsewhere where I did not get that.

Michael Kanyon cut it afterward, and the difference was immediate. The texture I had been fighting for months disappeared. He works dry, using the Sahag method, so he is cutting to how my hair actually falls rather than to how it looks pinned wet.

This is a rare combination in one place: a colorist who understands chemistry and a cutter with real editorial training.

“I took my 11 and a half year old to get her hair done at Mariyam's today. I was a little nervous because my daughter has never had braids before. I can't even part her hair without her screaming and hollering.

Upon walking in, we were greeted by Mariyam who was so sweet amd pleasant. The shop also smelled soooo nice and the sofa was so cozy. Her warm and friendly demeanor made us comfortable immediately. Mariyam was doing another client's hair when we arrived, so the two other women on her team did my daughter's hair. (Btw., the lady in Mariyam's chair looked amazing when Mariyam was done).

What I thought would take 5 hrs or more took just 3 hours! My daughter has a lot of hair, so I was shocked. One of them had combed it,blow-dried it,(she arrived in plaits and freshly washed hair), then immediately got to work. Her hair looked so beautiful when they were done. I would most definitely go there again. They have a customer for life. My daughter did not make a peep amd commented multiple times that not only did it not hurt, but it felt relaxing.

My daughter is starting middle school and has a whole new, beautiful look now. Plus it will save me 15 min in the morning and I can leave earlier for work.

If you are looking for a braiding salon where the owner doesn't just treat their clients like a number, but instead, gives exceptional customer service, as well as offering talented braiding services courtesy of her and her staff, please give this place a try. You will not be disappointed. Thanks so much to Mariyam and her team for a job well done. We will be back for sure!
