UPDATE-Everything that I wrote still stands true. I would like to share a few things that may help someone who has never redone their kitchen and is looking to do so.
My kitchen is small so I was looking to maximize every inch of the space. This I stressed during my consult. I am currently putting my belongings back in and cannot fit what use to fit. I recognize that I need to re-work the space to make things fit differently but it is clear that I have less space. I guess I assumed that they made note of the dimensions of what I had such as drawer sizes, pantry sizes and would ensure that I had the same or larger if the space would allow. Don't assume, measure it your self, talk to them about it or you will be disappointed. I guess I was expecting some guidance to work on getting what I wanted as I am not the expert. It is hard to know what to ask, what to look for when you don't have this experience. There is more to a new kitchen than material choice, color and hardware choice. As the customer, I was so wrapped up in making these choices that paying attention to the functionality of the kitchen just fell through the cracks. The biggest thing I learned, that I hope to pass on to both new customers and the Carolina Designer Cabinets team, is that happiness with the final product comes down to functionality. The cabinets may be beautiful, but if they aren't working for you the way you need them to, then you will be disappointed. Understand that you WILL have to make further adjustments, other than moving a shelf up or down. My husband had to move a rolling shelf up to accommodate the bottles that I wanted on the rolling shelf below. This requires more than moving a few pegs. You may need to purchase shelf organizer racks, to refit your kitchen items. This is just how it is for everyone when you redo a kitchen. Clearly Carolina Designer Cabinets do not know how you are going to organize your kitchen, so there is only so much foresight that they can offer. That is why it is imperative that both parties communicate wishes and solutions prior to the build. I still stand by this company and would hire them again. Unfortunately, I will probably never redo this kitchen again. It is tough to come up with the funds to do it once. Hopefully, my shared experience, will help someone achieve a happier end result.“
