JoAnn is AMAZING! She is skilled, honest and sanitary. I've been a client for many years, and one of the things that sets her apart is the post-treatment cataphoresis that cools down my skin so that its calm (not red or bumpy) when I leave. She does take a bit longer than others, but it's because she is thorough. Her rates are fair. She is not tech-savvy, so I recommend calling directly for an appointment.
Finally spoke to the owner after a few days of trying to reach her. So let me give some helpful hints. JoAnne's landline AND answering machine or voicemail have some serious problems. Before I found out about the modified hours - I called several times. Finally - in frustration - I left a message. No call back. On a whim - I called again, late one evening - only to be told that she 'thought she remembered me leaving a voicemail" but it was so garbled that she couldn't get all the digits in the phone number I recited." During this call - from landline, as well, all of sudden - she couldn't hear me - phone conversation ended. We had chosen an actual date - and were just finalizing the time when the phone issues occurred. ARGH! I tried her back - twice - immediately - no answer. And because I can be super tenacious and stubborn - I tried her back and 3rd time - and was finally able to schedule. Not sure why she didn't call me back after first 'call issues' because during the initial call - I discovered she has caller ID. The website is out-of-date / somewhat misleading. The owner, JoAnne Szymanski, only takes appointments Wed - Saturday, from 7am - 3pm. Starr takes appointments one day a week - Wednesday evenings only. JoAnne's website lists her email, but she's not tech savvy, so she doesn't actually know how to check it. :-) Do NOT use this method to contact her. JoAnne has been doing electrolysis for over 40 years. She is a CPE (Certified Professional Electrologist) and is certified member of AEA (American Electrolysis Association). I will update this review once I've actually visited the office next week. ********Review 2 - UPDATE: Finally had my appointment and it went well. JoAnne is definitely, hands down, the most thorough electrologist I have EVER visited. The location is nice and clean - Governor's Ridge off Powers Ferry. The Start: I could have done without 1) the fact during my reminder call the day before, the phone was 'breaking up' - and either a TV or radio was blaring quite loudly in the background and 2) the extremely loud music playing in the waiting room and 3) I'm being honest, I was a bit annoyed at the way I was welcomed. Upon entering: I said, "Hi, I'm Denise. I have a 1:30pm." And the woman sitting at the reception desk said, "Ok," handed me a clipboard with forms and said, "I need you to fill this out." I sat down with the forms, then looked over at her and said, "Are you JoAnne?" And she replied, "Yes." Then nothing. So there was that bit of oddness at the onset. I thought my 'welcome' was a bit unwelcoming. The Actual Treatment: As the visit proceeded, I was able to get a better 'vibe.' And again - this is just my opinion - but JoAnne seems fairly friendly, I just think she's taken on a LOT. She appears to be handling all her own scheduling, reception, office management, bookkeeping, etc. I think it's making her a bit forgetful (or maybe 'preoccupied' is a better description). I think that's why she forgot to introduce herself or effectively greet me. She even sanitized her hands and put on gloves, but then she cancelled all that out because she answered the phone twice - (see phone issues from 1st review) effectively cancelling out her germ-free hands - while I was lying on the table waiting to get numb. Speaking of numbing - she used Lidocaine type numbing cream before getting started - that was a first for me - and I LOVED the fact that she offers this. And the aftercare was amazing. She used an ice pack, then she did cataphoresis - which felt AMAZING. She also recommended Tend Skin for in between visits. I experienced no redness, and no scabbing in the treated area. Wrapping Up: The only other thing I felt compelled to mention is that I asked for a
