Drivesmart has stepped up its game. Much easier to schedule appointments than it was a couple of years ago. Also, we were blessed to get Mr. Alonzo Thorton As the driving instructor. I cannot say enough good things about this gentleman. He's encouraging, incredibly observant, and really amazing at what he does. They are lucky to have him there. I know my son will be a better driver throughout his life because of Mr. Thornton, and also he's a genuine good apple as a person. Thank you!
I just want to say something about the road test. For us, it was WAY harder at Drive Smart than the DMV. I wish I had known that beforehand. If your kiddo fails twice at drive smart (they only let you take it twice there), go to the DMV - they will pass no problem if they took lessons at Drive Smart. Honestly the DMV test was pretty much a joke and the Drive Smart test was much longer, much more intense and covered a lot more specific skills. My impression was that the tests would be the same, but that was not at all our experience. Both my kiddos did the lessons and road test with Drive Smart. One sailed through no problem and passed the Drive Smart road test, but the other struggles with anxiety and failed the road test with Drive Smart twice. Both were "automatic fails" for safety reasons and not a lack of specific skills. I'm unclear on what actually happened but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. But my kiddo took it hard. She over stressed, over studied and waited a year to take it at the DMV to find out that it was so, SO much easier there. The parallel parking etc was the same but the road driving was literally a short jaunt around the block (probably less than half a mile) versus a 20 minute drive across a lot of different types of roads and situations at Drive Smart. I'm of two minds about it - as a parent I would rather they be able to pass a more intense test before driving on their own. But for one of mine, it was tough and the dmv was a much better option. Overall I feel like the instruction really helped both my drivers I just wish I had done more of my homework on the road test.
Thank you so so so much to Drive Smart and staffs at this location. There are no appointment at DDS office before 2 months. Drive smart acted like a boon in this situation. You can schedule road test with them in a weeks time. No training is needed if you are 18 or above. Price for road test is nominal and really stress free. You get 2 attempts. I recommend drive smart for everyone who wants to get their drivers license without much hassle.
