“After nearly a year of watching this salon from afar and seeing it pop up on TikTok, I finally walked into Flower Atl Braids and I'm so glad I did. Growing up, I was no stranger to African braiding salons. But as I got older, the tightness and discomfort pushed me toward Black American braiders. Unfortunately, that came with its own trauma: sky-high prices, inconsistent booking, and losing an entire day in someone's chair. I was over it. I knew I needed to return to what I knew--the efficiency and reliability of African braiders. I arrived early on a Monday morning, the first client of the day. I was greeted by one of the braiders and instructed to call the owner, Flower, to confirm my style. I requested medium knotless braids, waist-length, with a custom color mix (1B/30/27). Flower quoted me $250, a fair and honest price considering the style, length, and color. Two braiders worked on me--Sophie and another braider whose name I didn't catch, but it starts with an M based on the sign-in sheet. The shop was clean and everything ran smoothly. My braiders were initially hesitant about the color mix, but once they saw it finished, they loved it and so did I. The braids ended up being a little longer than I anticipated, and the whole process took about 5.5 hours. For the length and quality, I have zero complaints. The braids are neat, the parts are clean, and most importantly, I left without feeling like my scalp was on fire. Tight? A little, but nothing unbearable. Painful? No. I'll definitely be back again. My only issue was with the handling of the braiding hair. At times, the hair would fall to the floor and if it was picked up quickly, I understood. But sometimes it lingered, was stepped on, and still used. I did refuse some hair that had been stepped on, but I don't believe it was thrown out. That's something I'd encourage others to be mindful of. Make sure the hair being installed in your head is being cared for properly. If you're looking for a clean, efficient, no-nonsense braiding experience that gives what it's supposed to give, Flower Atl Braids is your spot.“

“It was a last minute thing, it was so hard to find someone that still does micro braids and luckily I found Warrage. She was happy to take me as a last minute person which I’m so thankful for. She did and excellent job on my micros, she was very patient and understanding. Her shop is very welcoming and clean. She did everything to make sure I was comfortable. She had some nice conversations with me and made me even more comfortable and welcoming. Overall she is a great person and did I wonderful job with my hair. I have been getting a lot of compliments. “I went there for back length twists which are relatively simple to do. I was also a walk in and waited for about 30 minutes before someone started on my hair. EDIT: I went back and they fixed my hair for me, I just forgot to update my review. 5 stars!

Pros:
Lovely shop with lots of babies which tends to mean chaos but if you’re from the Global South or used to being around the chaos of children, this feels warm and homey. The ladies are nice enough and I didn’t catch any overt insults made to anyone while I was there.

Cons:
Language barrier, not the worst thing in the world but when someone is working on your hair and you can’t see what’s happening, it helps to be able to clarify.

My hair just doesn’t look good. It’s extremely tight which is painful but not unexpected, what was unexpected is how crowded and bulky in the front the braids are and when I mentioned it, I was told it wouldn’t be possible to fix. To be fair to the braiders, it was the end of the day for them but when I offered to return (on my own dime) to simply fix it, I was told it would be too busy. Despite explaining what I wanted done and showing multiple examples of what I needed it to look like with the same hairstyle I just took down, I left feeling extremely disappointed. The cost was only slightly less than I would’ve paid at a place guaranteed to give me what I asked for. Overall, I’d say give it a shot if you’re looking for something simple and need braiders. Otherwise, wait to get exactly what you want.“

“There are several businesses inside the bldg. I started my loc journey here with Montiana. I was able to get the locs I was comfortable with and love the flexibility of the style.“

“The ladies here always do an amazing job on my hair. The work is very detailed and beautiful. I just bring a photo of what I want and they can create it. There’s always more than one person braiding my hair at a time so I’m not in the seat all day. And the prices are really good so i pay it forward with a nice tip always. My favorite braiding salon in Atlanta.“
