5 stars are not enough! My dachshund injured her spine after a fight with my brothers dachshund. I brought her to Chi and she was treated like a QUEEN! She was accessed appropriately and given treatment that is making her more comfortable.
Dr Komina and the staff at the Chi Institute are the absolute BEST! My bulldog was diagnosed by a UF neurologist DVM as having a "suspected" lesion growing on his brainstem in early 2023. I say "suspected" because I could not afford to have the MRI done which is the only way to definitively diagnose what was causing his extensive neurological issues. UF referred us to Chi. Best decision ever. Dr Komina has been with Greyson & I through thick & thin ever since and amazingly he is still with us! He still has some neurologic issues but is so much better than when we started. He started with stroke like issues, left side of his face drooping, massive drooling, staggering & falling down to almost 2 years later his biggest issue is "old timers brain" with hearing & a cataract issue. I attribute his miraculous recovery to a major change in diet (no processed food-was cooking myself & then found Farmers Dog!) and his Chinese herbs along with small doses of Pred. While not the cheapest vets around (you get what you pay for) they are also not the most expensive. My experience with the entire staff is that they Care about you and your pet!! Which to me is worth its weight in gold. I do have a back story with the Chi having brought rescue horses & other dogs to their classes long before the Animal Clinic was opened(which I am sooooo grateful for!!). And have always opted for as natural a care for myself & my animals as possible so for me, having the clinic open up, with Western & Eastern knowledge & medicines available in one stop is priceless! Side note: I recently had issues with one of my kitties & brought her here (instead of the "regular" vet I previously used) and while the outcome was not what I wanted (she had cancer & we had to euthanize her) I will never take my animals any where else to say goodbye. This staff's hearts truly are that big. That said, if I could give Dr Komina, The Chi and their staff 11 Stars I would! If you need a truly exceptional vet for your beloveds, I highly recommend taking a short drive to northern Marion county.
