“My kids took Kempo lessons in NY for 3 or 4 years. I always felt they were too formal.....like they were preparing for a show. We started down here at Villari's Kempo since moving down 3 months ago and I really like the way the classes are run. He doesnt waste a lot of class time on stetching and warm ups (kids are already flexible). He presents the class and lessons more like a street environment. I also like the Ju Jitsu influence that he blends in. I had a friend as a kid that was learning ju jitsu while I was learning Shorinru karate, and I was always envious of his ju jitsu moves, grabs, and holds. So this school feels like they are truly preparing my kids for street style self defense, rather than a Kempo Karate Tournament or kata presentation.“

“My son has been going here almost a year and he loves it. He always looks forward to coming here. He's normally fairly shy and over the last year we can definitely see him coming out of his shell. All of the instructors are very friendly and great with kids!I'd recommend to anyone looking for a new activity.“

“Took my 6 year old son to the kids class that takes place every MWF from 5-6 pm. We were visiting from out of town, and I wanted to find a place where my son could brush up on the basics while we are gone from home. I messaged Insomnia on Facebook, and they were quick to respond with the pertinent and helpful information. As with anything new, there are things you go into a place looking and hoping to find. We found it and more. The atmosphere is unassuming, small, and tight knit, but everyone was very friendly to both myself and to my son. The coaches were well organized, patient, kind, and knew what they were talking about. They split the hour between warmup, drilling basic technique, teaching and practicing a move, and finished with purposeful matches at the end of the session. The hour was run efficiently, coaches were quick to give individual instruction, and they used technical language in an accessible and understandable way for a child. If we lived here, I know where I would be taking my son to train. I would highly recommend Insomnia BJJ to anyone looking. The value will exceed the cost guaranteed.“
