Everglades review If I didn't bring my horse here, she would still be alive. I hold these people responsible for the death of my horse and even if I ignore that, the mind blowing negligence and mistreatment that occurred here is disgusting and despicable. I have never in my life encountered such an obscene excuse for care.My horse arrived off the trailer a healthy weight, happy and dappled. She was a very kind, well behaved horse loved by many. In less then a month, my horse who had been with me for nearly 20 years, and rarely EVER gave me issues coliced so severely that I had no choice but to let her pass on. To start, my horse had ALWAYS had her feed wet for the past 10+ years. She had alfalfa cubes as well. They REFUSED to wet feed when I begged and offered money, even though this is Florida and that is quite honestly unheard of as a dehydration prevention. They promised me they would wet her cubes before serving them for the first couple of days she was there, only to have CJ tell me two weeks later he lied and served them to her DRY. That is a MAJOR choking hazard. Common sense is not so common around here. Throwing a little water on the food is apparently too much work. Second, on more then one occasion I found the WRONG food in her tub that was the complete opposite of what she was on. I called the owner who expressly admitted fault to me.I started giving my horse Ulcerguard for the first time in her life because all of the food issues were clearly causing massive inflammation in her gut. It's worth mentioning that these people do not bed the stalls more then a fingernail thick. Your horse is in there for 12 hours in the evening and cannot lay down. If they go to lay down or roll, they will be covered with massive scraps from the concrete and hard mats they are rolling against. My horse left that day covered head to toe in bloody scraps on her body and face. The water was never cleaned out every time I checked. On one occasion when I was standing next to my horse in front of the stall, the owner approached and my horse just moved her head towards her to say hello, so that her face slightly left the stall opening. She HIT my horse in the FACE right in front of me, claiming she was preventing her from stepping in the aisle. My horse did not move a hoof, but you do not hit horses in the face. I was in pure terror and shock seeing this, knowing full well what they do in front of you is worse then what they do when you're not there. Over the small amount of time that my horse was there, she dropped several hundred pounds and they WERE NOT CONCERNED. They didn't even NOTICE when I brought it up. What's worse, when I did discuss how much she was getting fed, both CJ and Suzanne told me DIFFERENT amounts they were feeding her. She hardly ever had hay in her stall and neither did the other horses. The day before I took her to the equine hospital, she had not eaten her THREE previous meals. Instead, they dumped each scoop of feed on top of the other. I had just been with her the day before. Any barn manager or horse person with a lick of common sense would have immediately called a vet or owner to let them know their horse was off grain from ONE FEEDING and colicing. By the time I got her to the hospital, she was so severely sick that the vet recommended against surgery fearing she might die on the table. Maybe this place used to be great since the rest of the reviews which are fantastic are older. Maybe they have alcohol issues, drug issues, are burnt out, I don't know. If they respond to this, they will say that they "take care of the horses like they were their own". Is the above how you take care of your horses?Even if you ignore my horse's death, the mistakes, negligence, and mistreatment are enough to make you run the other way. This was my best friend, my soulmate. My only regret is that I didn't leave the second I noticed something wrong with this place, and THAT is my fault and my guilt to bear. If you need to kill off your horse, take them here, they'll gladly

I started boarding my horses at Everglade about 12 years ago. Even though I now have my own farm, I still use Everglade when I go on vacation and when there is hurricane in the area. It's safe, there are a lot of grazing paddocks, they feed beautiful hay, and they have years of experience.

Everglade Equestrian is a an exceptionally beautiful, well-run stable conveniently located a few minutes outside Gainesville. We boarded Shadow at Everglade Equestrian while our daughter attended UF and highly recommend this facility. Suzanne and CJ provide excellent, attentive care for all the horses, and the center includes large and impeccably maintained stalls, pastures and arena. They also have a very nice apartment attached to the barn. Excellent value for such an incredible center. Our horse and daughter were very happy here!
