I stayed here in 2021 and it was a Godsend. I can't believe I never wrote a review. The staff was friendly. Place was clean. It really helped me get on my feet. I wanted to come back not too long ago. However, you will be dealing with some entitled veterans that are slobs. And the staff can be oblivious to your work at times. I was doing 12 hours shifts at work and spending roughly 3+ hours commuting. And they kept hounding me about chores and waking me up to talk.
I live here currently with my mom, and I can honestly say this place is a blessing for both the veterans and their families. Dinner from Monday-Friday at 4:30 PM, twice a month there are 3 lovely ladies who come and male food on Saturday (with cake!) And they give out presents for birthdays and Christmas. Also, we get donations just about every day ranging from clothes, bungie cords, food, and other useful things. If you are a veteran and in need of a place to get back on your feet, this place is absolutely top notch.
I'm a former resident of the VTF in Melbourne. Supportive services received there, and later at Veterans Village in Cocoa, renewed my self-confidence, assisted me in finding employment, and put me on a path to homeownership.(The only negative was my horrible roommate, but as one of only two single, childless females at that time, there wasn't much for it. I had issues with a different one at the VV. Other friendships, some transitory, others lasting, formed at both facilities lessened the effects of negative Nellies.)Thanks for all you do to support veterans in improving our lives.
