I had a new 2 stage Lennox A/C installed 4 yrs ago by Service Experts and the first three years it was running great, but this past year our electric bill kept creeping up until I realized the unit was running low on freon. The company that installed it also did the yearly maintenance and the quality of their workmanship appeared to be going downhill as well. But I called them anyway and they came out and added a pound of freon that cooled the house a little better for only a few days and then it was not cooling at all.
