About Key West Gardens at Fort West Martello
West Martello Tower and Key West Garden Club is a non-profit organization located at the National Historic site of West Martello Tower. The club provides educational opportunities about tropical gardening to the community. Visitors can explore beautiful gardens that were once an old fort, filled with colorful flowers, lush greenery, and historic brick arches. The gardens offer scenic views of the beach and water, along with some nice seating options for relaxation. This delightful oasis creates a perfect blend of tropical elegance and old Key West charm, making it an ideal spot for photo opportunities. The garden is free to enter, but donations are appreciated. Information about the garden's history and plant layout is available through a provided laminated sheet for visitors to return. Those interested in gardening will find the enthusiastic volunteers eager to share their knowledge of the plants. The gardens are fun to walk through, with many native plants and some nice ocean views. Visitors can enjoy snapping photos and strolling at their own pace. The club also offers a variety of plants for sale at reasonable prices, including a beautiful bonsai that some visitors have taken home. While parking can be a bit challenging, the overall experience is wonderful for wandering, taking photos, or enjoying the intimate atmosphere. Absolutely adorable garden. It's right by the sea and the fort is a little elevated so you can see the water. The garden path goes through the entire fort and is so pretty. Good variety of plants. There's a butterfly garden and a couple of seating areas. Our guide was also super nice and knowledgeable. It's free admission with a donation option but I highly recommend donating. Gardens like this are special. 💜
Great experience. Nice to go see a free garden and there’s history and just a fun place to see a different part of the island. It’s definitely less busy than the mallory square and Duval Street, so gives you a different perspective of the area.
Being so close the edge of land in the face of a ocean is a different feeling. It's something about this location that feels almost magical or strange. Still in all its a beautiful place to be. A town full of rich culture and deep roots. A perfect place to ...... from .....
