We want to thank Vanessa and her staff for training our rescue Ginger. We were hesitant about sending our rescue away for the 2 week “board and train” but we have to say, Ginger has come home with manners. Fur Life K-9 Academy is a professionally run business with the dogs best interest at heart. Vanessa is a third generation Obedience and Service Dog Trainer that knows her stuff. When it came time to pick Ginger up from camp, our training began. Vanessa spent 2 hours with us going over commands and how to keep moving forward with our precious rescue. Gingers recall with “come” is probably the most impressive to me thus far. We will continue to use Fur Life K-9 Academy for daycare and boarding for Ginger. Thank you Vanessa for all you do! Ginger thanks you too!!
There are some people, probably not very many, with a natural ability to communicate with animals. Vanessa’s ability to connect with dogs is a gift. Our rescue dog, Skye, is our first pet as a family. We researched several dog trainers in the area, looking for an effective way to train Skye. After careful review we decided to send Skye to Vanessa’s two week boot camp. When Skye came back, we could not believe how much she learned in just two short weeks. Vanessa demonstrated Skye’s training by instructing Skye to lay down on the ground and stay in that position. She then instructed my 10 and 4 year old daughters to run in circles while screaming, in an attempt to distract Skye and trick her out of her commanded position. Skye watched the girls with interest but stayed in the down position, as directed. This particular exhibition of discipline was important to me and my wife given that two young, running, screaming daughters is fairly standard in our house! 👍🏼 Fur Life K-9 Academy has done an excellent job following up with Skye. They have periodic classes for boot camp graduates to reinforce the skills learned in camp. Along with several other dogs, Skye went around an outdoor shopping center, ignoring distractions in accordance with Vanessa’s commands. It was good training for both the dog and the owner. We appreciate Fur Life K-9 Academy and we recommend them for their training success.
Omg!!! What to say, honestly I was very hesitant about sending my 7month old puppy away for training. I had never done anything like this before and most of the dogs I’ve had in the past I trained myself and they were good dogs. Okay, so they had their own share of issues but I looked past most of them. Let me tell you something...now I’m mad I never properly trained my other dogs. Barkley came back with a great foundation and now it’s my job to secure it and make it fit. In the few days he’s been home we’ve had a crazy house with lots of kids and unexpected visitors and he’s done incredible. I even took him to pick my oldest daughter up at camp. 30plus drama students coming at him and he handled it like a true gentleman. He’s still his happy sweet playful self but with control! Vanessa, I can’t thank you enough! Thank you for answering all my questions and putting me at ease. I have no doubt that this is some of the best money I’ve ever spent.
