We've driven by this museum so many times on our way to the aircraft viewing area and finally went today with my little aviation enthusiast. Our guide was amazing...very knowledgeable and patient keeping the interest of a 7 year old as we went around. It was a great museum to spend an hour or so learning about various planes and history. So glad we stopped in!

This is free to the public but please leave a donation. Naval Air Station building from the 1940's. Lots of historic artifacts here. Veterans give you a tour of the facility then you can walk around at your leisure. Wish the County would put more funding into it or maybe the Navy. If you like military history you'll like this. Takes about an hour.

Absolutely amazing experience! Greg was the best tour guide ever and he explained everything so consice, I was so interested! It's free to go, but you can make a donation which I definitely did just because the effort in this museum is so amazing and everyone there are volunteers and vets themselves. Great evening learning and looking at all the model planes. ? thank you guys for your service and passion ❤️

From Naval Air Station Fort Lauderdale Museum

Naval Air Station Fort Lauderdale (NASFL or NAS Fort Lauderdale) was built on the site of Merle Fogg Field in 1942 as part of the national defense program; serving as one among 257 air stations during World War II, and as one of a few specialty schools for training on the TBM/TBF Avenger aircraft. NAS Fort Lauderdale made a big impact in the growth and economy of the South Florida region and the United States as a whole. Building # 8, The Link Trainer Building housed 6-8 Link Trainer flight simulators. It is the only remaining structure left on the naval base property—sole reminder of a naval complex of more than 200 buildings. This building is now the Naval Air Station Fort Lauderdale Museum.
