I went into the McMullen office of the Eye Institute of West Florida yesterday for my annual eye exam. This was my first visit switching from my old eye doctor to a new practice. I was looking forward to meeting my new eye doctor. Dr. Mary Lou Smith and her assistant were exceptional. Both very personable and professional. If my encounter was just with these two professionals my rating would have been a five plus. Unfortunately, my very first visit at this office started off badly due to the two unprofessional women who sit at the front desk. No cookies or coffee, but an exceptionally skilled surgeon. Still need sutures out but so far great results and I can see clearly from my total eye area without always making a face to open my eyes! Cannot wait for sutures to be out. Highly recommend this physician, he's got a tough job and he loves it--it shows.

I used to see Dr. Schwartz in Largo who was awesome. Sadly he passed recently and I was referred to Dr. Davis in Clearwater. First time seeing him, and all he did was seem frustrated that my dilated eye kept tearing and smudging his equipment.Then he tried to perform a procedure with a handheld lens and got frustrated again saying I was dilated and he couldn't perform it. Uhmm, excuse me, but you ordered my dilation not 15 min earlier. Finally, when I asked what a certain procedure was, he held up the lens and said, "that's what I am trying to do." I had no clue the procedure name he was referencing was what he was trying to do. I am not an eye specialist.Bedside manner...read full review
