I got involved with NAMI pinellas through their peer mentorship program. I am a veteran with PTSD and substance use disorder and NAMI gave me something i was missing in recovery, a purpose. I started volunteering to lead connections and peer to peer classes. I became a state trainer as well for 2 of their programs. Nami has helped me so much in my mental health journey and everyone their is awesome. Siomara, Jessica, Destini, Camille are all so wonderful to work with. I even share my story with a room full of police officers now through the CiT training. I never thought i'd have the courage to do something like that. NAMI has positioned me to be a knowledgeable, positive, caring and loving caregiver for my son and others suffering with mental illness.

I was provided the necessary tools, through training, hands on experience, facilitation and fun- loving experience, which gave me the strength to proactively be there for my dear son and others.
