The staff is dedicated and treats clients with respect, creating an environment where people feel cared for and not judged. While some reviews mention issues like understaffing and longer wait times, they also highlight the staff's effort and patience. The organization is recognized for its affordability, making mental health care accessible for low-income individuals. Some clients suggest that offering first appointments via Zoom could help overcome transportation barriers, especially for those with limited mobility or funds. Several stories reflect long-term relationships with Directions for Living, with clients benefiting from therapy, medication, and support that helped them regain memory, live independently, and improve their quality of life. Overall, the center is seen as a reliable, caring place that provides much-needed services for people facing mental health issues, often going above and beyond despite challenges like staffing and scheduling.
I've been coming here for about 6 years since I got sober and I love it here. Psych dr turnover is small. I've only had 2 different doctors and this one ive had nothing but problems. Like my dr ordered a blood test twice and quest never received it. To the point I had to make an in person visit because I needed to get blood drawn and needed the order. Since then he's acting like I need to drive 13 miles just to have him fumble around and not listen to me
I was so worried when I saw how poor the reviews were. I've been going here for about half a year now, the staff are doing their best. When you have a nonprofit like this of COURSE there will be understaffing etc., you just have to be patient and empathetic, you are not the only person needing help. It takes time to setup appointments for the first go-around, that's to be expected. The one comment I'd have is to implement first appointments for psych over zoom as an option, transportation can be barriers to care, especially for low-income folk. Thank you for all you do!
I have been going to DIRECTIONS For Living since 2019. I have always been treated with the upmost respect and I appreciate that they have wonderful doctors in my opinion. The pharmacy is in House. It’s just a wonderful place for people that have mental disabilities. They don’t make you feel like you’re different.
