I have been conservative with going to massage services because when I've asked for "deep tissue" I barely feel it.I ask for deep tissue because I have dense muscles that have gotten stiffer and tighter over the years.I feel my past experiences have kind of been expected (in hind-sight) because most of them are small female who just don't have the strength to hit me the right way.I made therefore made a decision to hold out till I found a male and who not only had great reviews but was comfortable with working on another male as well.This was hard to do because of the prevailing stereotypes and perceptions that persist on the subject.FINALLY I found Gordon. In fact his first question when scheduling our appointment was to make sure that I myself was OK with a male masseur. So that gained him points in my eyes because he wasn't afraid to address the hard questions right off the bat.As for the experience itself, I have nothing but good things to say.He was very professional the entire time.His main concern was making sure that I was comfortable with everything and addressing MY concerns and targeting what I wanted.I asked for deep tissue, and that's what I got.I expected a relaxing and comforting environment, and that's I got.The ONLY thing I would recommend that he does differently for future clients and especially for those new to the massage industry is to explain that when he asks "how's the pressure?" that he's not asking "is it too hard, do you need me to lighten up, because he thinks he might be going too hard?" like I assumed.Instead he's asking if you want more pressure, because he CAN apply more if you need it.That was my mistake in understanding as well, in not being more vocal as well, and that's the BEST thing about Gordon, is that he WILL communicate with you if you let him.He welcomes feedback and is looking to develop and improve in his craft just like anyone else is on a daily basis.He appreciated my honesty when I told him "same excuse as anyone else" when he asked me why I haven't been stretching for a long time.And I appreciated his honesty at the end when he said flatly "you need to stretch a LOT more as well.I'm also looking forward to successfully expanding his business model with home visits in the near future and wish him luck with that as well.I know that I'll be going back to him again, and I've never made a return visit to anyone before.You don't run into that kind of work ethic or dedication to a craft very much anymore.I'm glad I found him and hope others do as well.
