I wouldn’t recommend alterations unless you’re in no hurry, but also the tailoring was imprecise and expensive. If you’re not in a hurry, dry cleaning and laundry is good. I find there’s no chemical smell lingering on the clothes. They do have a convenient after hours drop, but delivery service would be an improvement. And oh the many broken buttons over the years!
