I called this place a few weeks ago to see if I could schedule an appointment because I love there stylist here. But for some reason they are temporary closed. Didn't have a great experience at the VA Drybar that I settled for.

Updating because long story short- I finally reached them. Apparently they had overbooked and were trying to cancel/move appointments and that absolutely did not work for me since I was in DC to attend a wedding so they told me to call back Saturday morning. I did and they were just like "oh yeah, we solved the problem, you're all set." Ooook then! So I went to the appointment and it turned out they're having all sorts of staffing issues due to COVID which is not surprising and not the immediate staff's fault, but something management needs to work out. My hair turned out very nicely, the stylist seemed stressed, but I don't blame her at all since it seems like they're working under very difficult circumstances.

Drybar as a company is a disaster. They clearly aren't paying their people enough and their operational practices are a mess. I go to locations all over when I travel for work and I have about a 50% chance, AT BEST, of getting a blowout that was worth the time, or that starts on time. When I book with a new spot, it's only because I have no other option. Their locations feel poorly maintained and not very clean, and they often run out of products. I feel bad for the stylists honestly because I think their work environment is very chaotic. With that said, the only reason I keep my membership is because of the Dupont location. Clearly some other clients have had bad experiences there and it's true that the stylists are on the rough side, not very friendly, and the way they use the dryers can be painfully hot on the scalp. But the guys who work at the front desk are so nice. I wish they ran the whole national operation. (I was honestly ready to cancel my membership and quit the franchise forever recently due to a Drybar engineered disaster until the Dupont front desk saved the day. Please be nice to them if you go because they are treasures!) It's also the only place in DC where I've gotten a single decent blowout since the pandemic. In fact, I've had some blowouts that were absolutely fabulous and looked as good the next day as they did right after they were done, which is unheard of. Plus, they were fast, which I personally really appreciate. I can't promise you will be happy but I think it's worth giving this place a try, especially since there aren't many other options right now. Hopefully the front desk guys open their own salon soon and we won't have to rely on Drybar anymore!
