One caveat - I didn't end up hiring this man. But the Why is amazing. I called him for what I thought might be a big problem. He asked me about it, and asked me to send him a couple pictures to clarify since I didn't know the right terminology to use to explain my issue. He called me right back and explained that he's more of a total renovation guy, rather than a handyman, and that I didn't need a renovation guy. Then he talked with me about what I could do to fix the problem myself. On his dime. Patiently. Thoroughly. I'm definitely on a budget and have multiple projects that need doing and with little money, I have to prioritize. A dishonest person could have come out and charged me a thousand dollars and I'd have no way to know I was being ripped off. Now I know how to fix this myself, and I have money for another project (also not in his primary focus, or believe me, I would have hired him). Honest contractors exist. This is that guy.

Lasting Strength Carpentry and Design is a hidden gem. It's uncommon in this day to find someone who is truly skilled, cognizant of client needs, and honest enough to sometimes tell you what you need to hear vs what you want to hear. Best trait is every reality check is followed by a potential solution. I place a ton of value on the ability to bring solutions vs just pointing out issues. I've used them for a basement finish, bathroom remodel and most recently a full kitchen remodel inclusive of knocking out two walls, weaving in new floors and cabinet install. Even a change to the cabinet placement made on the fly was handled with grace and such excellence that it looks like it was always meant to be..
