I love this school. The teacher are so amazing and follow true montessori principles in both the classroom and overall interaction with the children. My kids have grown exponentially here and have truly become amazing humans.
I would highly recommend this school to anyone looking for a Montessori school in the highlands/wheatridge area.
I am not one to write reviews either but after seeing the 3star rating on maps (as a result of the one star review from someone who was obviously uniformed upon attending a tour) I felt compelled to leave one. The school, compared to the other four that I toured in Denver (and one even claiming to be Montessori) is strikingly different. As the first reviewer stated, it is not decorated in bright colors, nor filled with bright colored plastic toys or art all over the wall, in contrast, it contains carefully curated toys and is a clean, calming, uncluttered and welcoming environment. My child has been at highland Montessori for six months, is approaching 1 year of age and has been sick once - aside from ear infections. Compared with other parents I know with children in Denver day care that is an anomaly . I believe that is a direct reflection on the environment that Natalie and Emily have created and that their staff maintain. With regard to the comments about the lack of vetting of the teachers - they do perform standard background checks - and in addition they are teachers not just babysitters. That is the main difference in Montessori and in this school in particular- the staff have received formal training and they are all incredible. Think of it like a requiring an associate degree in early childhood development to get the job At an another child care center. All of the information can be found on their website and with a little bit of homework beforehand you can go into the tour informed. You should also do some research into Montessori teaching and decide if that method is what you want for your child. If it is, then you will be impress a soon as you walk in the door at Highlands Montessori. If not then don't waist their time and know that there are other people on the waitlist that would appreciate your withdrawal.
