I am sorry to say that our experience with the company was extremely poor. We hired them to build a patio addition on our home. The problems with them were multiple, and included: 1. The work quality was awful. So awful, in fact, that it could not even pass their own engineers review/inspection. The pillars that hold up the roof were not put in correctly, and then had to be "mudjacked" by another contractor. That subcontractor,"Mudd Brothers" hired by Maxco, made a massive mess on our property, including spraying mud all over and into the surrounding turf field. Furthermore, during that process, they left large deep exposed holes around that patio, that they did not cover or mark, for days. Fortunately, I (not our young children) was the only one who fell into one of them at night. Also, the garage walls that they had worked thru, were left unfinished for months, where the drywall and insulation had been removed. When they finally got around to doing that work, it was done so badly that they had to redone by a second subcontractor . 2. The work was not done in a timely fashion. The project was begun this past summer, and was just completed in late December. We heard lots of excuses from the owner of the company, Skip Maxwell, but what we did not see was much interest in getting the project completed. 3. To make matters even worse, Mr. Maxwell was extremely unorganized in his billing. At one point, he came to our house with a stack of invoices, most of which had already been paid, and demanded payment from my wife, who felt intimidated by him.....Now, at projects end (final inspection has just been completed by the local Village authority), he has added some "mark-ups" to the bill, which had not been formally agreed to by us. And without letting us know, and without sending a final invoice (which we intend to pay) he put a lien on our home ! We have dealt with many contractors over the years. Never had we dealt with one so unprofessional or so seemingly unable to do his job, as Skip Maxwell. You would be best to stay very clear from him and his company. Philip Stull, Denver, CO
