Adrienne, the owner and stylist at Studio Onyx, has been an absolute gift to our family. My son has significant sensory aversions, and before working with Adrienne, haircuts were essentially impossible. He struggled with being in a salon environment, sitting still, the sound of clippers, and even the sight of scissors. What could have been a simple haircut was always overwhelming and stressful for him. Adrienne has now given him four therapeutic haircuts, and the progress has been incredible. We started with the longest appointment she offers — three full hours — and over time, we’ve been able to reduce the entire haircut to just over an hour, start to finish. That alone speaks volumes about her patience, skill, and approach. Adrienne allows my son full autonomy in the space. He can take breaks whenever he needs, move around the salon, and engage with the environment at his own pace. She took the time to let him become familiar with the tools, the sounds, and the process, helping him co-regulate and build trust over multiple visits. Because of that, he’s now able to tolerate — and even succeed with — a full haircut, and it looks fantastic. She is incredibly well-trained and knowledgeable in working with people who have sensory sensitivities, including autism, but her skill set clearly extends far beyond just one diagnosis. She meets clients exactly where they are, without pressure, judgment, or rushing. Adrienne is also extremely flexible, compassionate, and professional. Her pricing is more than fair for the level of care, time, and results she provides — it is truly worth every penny. I had the absolute pleasure of getting a wash & cut by Nina 😍 I had to bring my kiddos along and she was so accommodating and understanding! She took the time to give my hair the love it needed with washing and gave me tips on how to style my new look. I have waist length hair and she was very careful to give me the look I wanted without taking away too much. Nina is a master of her craft and I highly recommend booking with her.

She takes the time to listen to what you want and doesn't just give you a generic haircut, she will bring your vision to life. The location is amazing with this studio, it's beautifully decorated and the atmosphere is welcoming and in the heart of old Colorado. Studio Onyx is where it's at!
