57 Sunflower Rd, Colorado Springs“Katara started at House of Dog shortly after we moved to Colorado Springs in mid-2022, and I am so grateful for the role they have played in her life and confidence.
Katara is a rescue from Puerto Rico, and by the time we moved to Colorado, she had already lived in New Jersey, Virginia, and Arizona. I adopted her at 12 weeks old, and she has had training for most of her life. When she was about six months old, I noticed she was fear reactive, especially around new people. We worked with a trainer in Virginia, but her reactivity continued to get worse over time. This was especially heartbreaking because she had also been able to come with me to my university courses, interact with students, and have lots of dog friends.
When we found House of Dog, we started with a reactivity package, then completed Level One and a sniff course. We also did a lot of private training with Abby. Katara made real progress, and more than anything, our relationship improved. She still had reactivity, but I could see her gaining skills and confidence.
In April 2025, we found out that Katara had a glove in her gut that had likely been there since before I adopted her. The emergency vet told me it could have been a major part of her “shyness” and discomfort. After she healed, I decided to bring her back to House of Dog to work on socialization, even though I was nervous. I had spent years being afraid for her around new people. She does well with slow introductions, but her outbursts have always made me worry about her happiness and wellbeing. She is everything to me.
This year, Katara started going to House of Dog for half days once a week, and she has absolutely flourished. She loves Amber so much, and I am incredibly grateful for Amber’s patience, gentleness, and skill with her. Amber gives Katara space, lets her approach on her own timeline, and celebrates the small wins that matter so much with a fearful or people-selective dog. She also speaks to me with so much care and understanding about what it is like to love a dog with reactivity and fear. That kind of support matters more than I can really explain.
Katara gets excited when I say Amber’s name and tell her we’re going to “school.” She has also built relationships with Angie, other dogs, and other members of the team.
Katara’s reactivity is not perfect, and I have learned to manage a lot of it since she was a puppy. But she has become noticeably more confident in the outside world, and it means everything to see her happy, excited, and comfortable somewhere outside of our home. It makes me feel like her mental health is improving, too.
I am extremely grateful for House of Dog, and especially for Amber. I highly recommend them for people-selective dogs, fearful dogs, reactive dogs, and anyone who wants trainers who are patient, thoughtful, and genuinely invested in a dog’s wellbeing.“

3738 Astrozon Blvd, Colorado Springs“Our dog Tot had an amazing time at this training and it was like night and day getting him back. Our trainer Araiah was amazing with him. It has been about 3 weeks now having him back and he is a completely different dog in the best way possible. We are able to go on walks with a stroller and have complete control and confidence with him while walking. He also does amazing with “place” and being put away while we are eating. He used to hide under a bed for 10-15 mins to not go in his crate and now he goes in with one simply command. I will always recommend this training facility and especially our trainer!!“

6870 Centennial Blvd, Colorado Springs“We had our first experience at Centennial Animal Hospital last week. Our 16 year old chihuahua was sick, and the staff at Centennial was very kind and helpful as we figured out her diagnosis.
Unfortunately, we had to send our Coco over the rainbow bridge.
Jackson was very sweet with Coco. He gave her lots of forehead kisses during her exams. Dr Fitzpatrick was very kind and comforting in Coco’s last moments.
I highly recommend this clinic. We had a very peaceful and loving experience despite how challenging the process was.“

6052 Whetstone Dr, Colorado Springs“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We had an amazing experience with Diana! She worked with our Bernese Mountain Dog, Winston, during a two-week board and train in April, and the results were incredible. He now walks calmly on a loose leash, knows how to self-soothe by going to his place, and responds to commands like “leave it” and “quiet.” We’re communicating so much better with him thanks to her.
Diana’s positive reinforcement approach and incredible patience made all the difference. She took the time to get to know both Winston and us, and her daily updates (with photos!) kept us totally in the loop. I can’t recommend her enough—if you’re looking for a knowledgeable, caring trainer, Diana is the one!“

7850 Lindsey Dr, Colorado Springs“I have worked with Leona on multiple occasions. My dog was originally signed up for group classes with Spruce Mountain, and after one class, he had a hard time with being around the other pups. After speaking with Leona, she offered to switch him to individual sessions and we would revisit group training later. Due to my schedule, and living 45 minutes away, this was greatly appreciated. Leona has always been flexible, worked with me, has even boarded my pup with her to do some extensive training that I have not been able to do myself. This is my first puppy, and the work Leona has done, continues to do, and I am sure I will continue to work with her has been nothing short of fabulous. Leona not only trains my dog, she cares about my dog, his well being, and gave me the sweetest gift after he was boarded with her. It was a collection of pictures of him in various mediums and it melted my heart. I love working with Leona and so thankful she is such a pleasure to work with!!!!“

“All the trainers are great! My dog had extreme anxiety and was overly distracted in public. After just 10 training sessions, he now has confidence in unknown places and he chooses to focus on me and my commands on his own now.“
