Came here today 5/16/2023 to get natural looking almond/round shaped gel x nails. I know how to do my own gel x nails but decided to get them done by someone else because I'm lazy and I'm about to go on vacation. Booked with Annette I believe? Not sure who I got as I booked on Instagram & they didn't tell me shit LOL Anyways, the girl I had was not easy to talk to. Sensed a vibe from her and I did not like it. So, I just didn't make conversation. A few things I didn't like: - She cut me a few times with the cuticle cutter/nail drill machine and didn't say anything - I told her the lamp is burning my finger and she said it's "normal" (burning is not normal.. she shaved down my natural nails wayyy too much and caused me to burn under the lamp) - I told her beforehand my nails are crooked & she STILL put the gel x on crooked (she even tried to tell me "I don't know who told you your nails are crooked but they're not") - My nails are pointed upwards rather than straight out like how real nails should look like I'm not a licensed nail technician but I learned how to do my own nails (plus my mom does nails) and this is basic common sense... &Since my moms been through it, I tend to tip big when I get my nails done but I just felt she didn't deserve a big tip. I still tipped her tho, don't get me wrong. Just not as much as I could've due to the service she gave me. Overall, probably not going to come back but if I do I am NOT going back to her. Most likely not tho as first impressions play a big role in choosing a nail salon *** Edit: Same day but later in the evening. *** So they messaged me on Instagram after reading my review and said they take feedback very seriously. Brownie points imo! They took the time to message me and were very professional and respectful about it. She even asked if I'd want to come in again and I'd be personally taken care of by someone else but I declined as I'm leaving for vacay tomorrow. Overall, amazing hospitality! Will probably try this place again! Bumping it up from 1 star to 4 stars just because they took the time to message me.
I am a silent Yelper, I am the person that reads the reviews but never writes them. However, Annette and Monique are hands down amazing. I have been coming here close over 2 years and I've loved every set I've walked out with. They remembered my name after just the first visit, which to me feels like I'm going to see my friends who just happen to do my nails. I've met some very sweet customers who are also there getting their nails done and we get into some fun conversations. It really is a good time. Booking appointments are a must for Gel-X and done thru their Instagram page. Annette and Monique are upfront about the cost of your nails, the only time the price will change from what they originally quoted you is if you change something last minute at the time of your appointment. If I had a dollar for how many times I get compliments on my nails I'd probably have enough to pay for the next months set . Well I didn't mean for this review to turn into a novel but if you are on the fence about trying out gel-x I say give Tips and Toes a try. But don't get mad when you have to set aside some of your check once you get hooked lol.
I've been going to Tips & Toes for a couple years now & I can't say enough good things about Annette & Monique! Not only is their attention to detail & passion for their work so clear to see every single time I get my nails done, but they are the sweetest girls! I always feel so welcomed & comfortable here because of how personable they are & the fun conversations we have. I have never left not liking my nails because of how much time they put into their work & making sure everything looks good & is the look I'm going for. I look forward to every appointment because I know my nails are going to look so amazing afterwards. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for quality work with these amazing ladies, so you can experience their talent and have beautiful nails that you will get tons of compliments on!!
