Consider this before you buy. We bought home that had Tesla solar panels. It's time to replace roof and it's been a nightmare dealing with Tesla to get panels removed and later reinstalled. First, other vendors do not have special tools for Tesla panels so you are stuck using Tesla service. Then, our emails and phone calls go unanswered for months to get on there schedule. Finally, after 3 months we were given a date of June 5 (another 6 weeks out) to remove panels so we can repair the roof. Now we have extra costs to get another roof permit since the first one will expire May 31 and extended for the tiles. We DO NOT recommend Tesla solar because of their service after...read full review
Terrible customer service, weeks between communication. My solar has been offline since August of 2023, Warranty is covering the panels and they were months out. The roof is now needing repaired from wind damage and Tesla is charging over 5 K to remove panels, they need to remove for warranty repairs in the first place. its an endless loop of weeks or a month between communication. Skip them and go with someone local.
Former Tesla employee for 7 years. On the vehicle side. Got Tesla solar because I received a nominal employee discount. We were the first person in San Diego to get the new powerwall plus about 5 years ago. One of our two batteries failed within a year and we had no way of knowing. Something this simple should flag on the app, but it doesn't. I had to figure it out on my own. We lost about 10 months on the failed battery. I had an inside Tesla chain of people to bother when things went wrong and even with these connections, the customer service was abysmal.
