Insult to injury. The contractor's insurance had an exclusion for damages caused by "heating devices". A worker was sweat welding an exterior pipe with a torch and caught the insulation on fire. No fire extinguisher on hand to stop the fire, it went up the exterior wall and into the attic, burning 1/3 of our house down. The remainder of the house was badly smoke damaged. Our homeowners insurance covered the $400,000+ claim in property damages and material losses. The contractor was paid for work he never finished. He also never paid us for our $2,500 insurance deductible. We filed a claim with the Contractor's State License Board. Here is a link to all of the findings:...read full review
