Many members appreciate the friendly staff and the active, transparent organization that grew significantly since its founding, even surviving the pandemic and expanding its facilities. Membership can be costly for some, but many find it worthwhile, especially those interested in hobbies like cosplay, figurine making, or textile arts. The makerspace offers numerous workshops and classes for all ages, from electronics to woodworking and textiles, encouraging both new and experienced makers to learn and try new skills. Safety rules are strictly enforced, which some members see as a positive aspect, ensuring a safe environment for everyone. Overall, Maker Nexus is a vibrant community hub where curiosity is encouraged, and creativity is supported through a variety of tools, classes, and a welcoming atmosphere.
My brother and I attended their basic fabric repair class.
They intentionally keep class sizes small for everyone to get tailored attention.
We had Ally as our instructor and it was a great starter class.
I look forward to attending more classes at this location for other reasons.
You know what I like with MakerNexus? The negative reviews. Often it's people that are angry that MakerNexus enforces safety rules, such as not giving access to tools without proper training, or not allowing people who are late to safety classes. That's a shop where I want to be! I'm so sorry for the people who feel entitled to ignore basic instructions, safety rules and plain old common sense, they don't belong in a shared space. Keep it up MakerNexus!
Membership provides access to a plethora of craft and hobby tools. From sewing and vinyl crafting to wood shop and metal shop, if you can think it, you can do it here. Membership per month can be pricey for some ($160/month for hobbyist membership), but it was been well worth it for me a cosplayer and my husband as a figurine maker. He loves using the resin printer and laser cutters. My favorites are the embroidery machine and large format vinyl cutters.
