Quality care and treatment from the moment you park and check. My mother has been a patient for the last several months, recently having her 2nd lumpectomy and first with the Stanford Cancer Center, located in Stanford via Palo, Alto in Santa Clara County. Stanford Medicine, "delivers unparalleled care for each patient's unique needs." The process was a full day on the third floor and receiving both text notifications, monitor updates in the waiting area and phone calls from both surgeons before and after each procedure was very comforting. While in the waiting area masks are required, and a low to library tone is preferred as calls and conversations can echo down the hall. You have a access to free Wi-Fi (no password needed), single use restrooms, chairs, benches or small sofas. I was able to keep my mind busy with work throughout the day with a few plug outlets along the corners, wall and even in the floor. There's a computer (with two) area as well and when busy 30 minutes is the max use so others can be allowed as well. Family and child friendly space in the waiting area as well (changing stations in two out of the three restrooms). All information stays confidential on the monitors, patients are listed by numbers given as are the pre-Op, in-surgery, and in-recovery time... It's color coded to make it easier to note as well. You can purchase snacks, food, beverage, etc on the first floor at the Zoom Caffe, but there are some great food spots in the area and a cafeteria in the Children's Health building. The pharmacy is on the main floor and closes at 5PM. Depending on the care you receive, all areas are clearly labeled to guide you with ease. Parking validation is available, but unfortunately we weren't informed of this, but $18 for the day to ensure that my mother's surgery and care was meet to the best standard is all I could ask for. Additionally we had some issues with filing prescriptions that took about two hours to resolve, though did get resolved. We were missing a single hard copy of one requested document, but overall it's one of the best facilities in the Bay Area... Not to mention the state of California!
I had to have surgery right away. I was in the middle of a move from Wi to Fresno so everything had to get transferred over. I will admit there was some issues getting everything & everyone on board with confirmations/billing ect. But once the insurance & billing was settled I arrived in Ca & three days later was admitted & shortly after arranged the date for surgery. The Dr. Diver & nurses were extremely confident & showed compassion. They walked me through everything step by step & what to expect every step of the way. They allowed a family member to accompany me right up till the surgery. I couldn’t be more pleased with this place. There is somewhat of a wait but...read full review
