The Santa Ana VA Clinic has been an outstanding experience every time. The staff are friendly and super helpful. All of the doctors work very hard to provide great care. I am grateful to have such great people provide such fantastic medical care.
I use the optical (eye care) dept to have my eye exams done. The exams are very through, and the optometrists are very knowledgeable and helpful. If one needs an ophthalmologist appointment, then from my understanding, the Long Beach Hospital/clinic has them available. They also are excellent! For some exams, I was informed at the Santa Ana office that they can perform the same visual inspection that the ophthalmologist in Long Beach performed. I have gone to a private ophthalmologist in the past, and I found that the VA SA Clinic has excellent staff every time I have scheduled an eye exam. Also, the eyeglasses I have had prescribed are excellent! The staff are extremely friendly and have always answered any questions I have. The eye frame staff are always helpful and patient. They were able to find a pair of used frames after I stepped on mine and put my lenses into them and saved the day for me. I did get a hearing test done many years ago, but I cannot remember if it was at the Long Beach or the Santa Ana office. I did go to the SA office to have the parts changed and the technician was helpful but was not very patient. I recently was able to schedule an appointment with the audiologist at SA for checking out my hearing aids and my hearing. My wife complains that my hearing aids are not working! From my research, the Phonak hearing aids that the VA prescribes are reviewed as excellent. A family member works for a company that sells and performs hearing tests and she says that Phonak are excellent.
I went at a time that I was the 2nd Client, usually they have you check in the front at the main clinic so it would be best to show up 15 min early (minimum), I was taken care of pretty quickly.It's a hit or miss when it comes to service, I usually get the same Optometrist, she is pleasant to interact with. And sometimes there are people that do not know how to filter their emotions and it projects on their behavior.Fortunately, on 21SEP23, that was a great experience for me. I hope that it continues to be that way.
