Update: The lady with the tattoos that has poor reviews no longer works there since 2 weeks ago. I helped her with a pizza at Blaze next door, and she recognized me last time when she did my hair. She told me about her not being wanted anymore, so I guess that's probably from all the reviews, lol. Her name is Marie, by the way.
GREAT local spot to get a haircut, and the least expensive in all of SLO by far (I called around) -- but that doesn't mean it's without value: I got my hair cut by Bob, who was so sweet, soft-spoken, and meticulous. In a handful of instances, I've taken pictures of my haircut so that I can show future barbers as an example for what I'm looking for; it'd been 5 years, and I took a whole bunch after this appointment - Bob's haircut was flawless. I'm making University Barber Shop my staple for as long as we're in SLO. $20 for a basic cut (CASH ONLY!) - you'll have a hard time finding a place that's a better deal for a great haircut in SLO.
I'm not sure what others are expecting... but they did a nice job for me. Shout out to Eileen! Professional, timely and knowledgeable. Not a long wait, and she was able to finish my cut and have me on the way with no fanfare! Sort and simple. I'm going back!
