I had an excellent experience with V&M Ornamental Ironworks, Phelan Street, San Jose. (There are others with similar names.) The rail was beautifully done, and the design that was jointly created by Mario and me Is perfect. I have had many compliments. Mario is a good communicator, finished everything in a timely manner with excellent workmanship. I decided on the powder coating, even though it was more expensive. I think that was a good choice for durability. The rail installers did a beautiful job. All was done within the time frame that was promised. We had Mario fabricate and install two very difficult handrails. The first rail includes a free form tube that end with a compound curve. I contacted just about every fabricator in the SF bay area and they were the only ones willing and capable of making a rail with a compound curve tube. The second hand rail was custom fit around our hot tub with a serpentine pattern. This is really hard to do as this is made from heavy wall Stainless Steel pipe rolled to shape and then ground down to look like tree bark. I've been a customer for 8 years. They made my staircase rails inside my house and then later matched another one when I was remolding my kitchen. I recently needed touch up paint and they provided to me free of charge and knew what color they needed to give me. Now they are doing my driveway gate. Can't wait.
