I followed Adriana here from her prior salon thinking no salon could compare-- I was wrong! This place is SO fun, Kelly and the other stylists are hilarious and kind, and it's just overall such a welcoming, inclusive vibe. Plus they have stickers??? What more could you want? Also, the coffeeshop next door slaps-- definitely arrive early to grab a cup.
Great place to get a haircut or trim that suits you. Kelly's a great listener and brings out the person you are (or as much as you care to share), and helps translate that into making your hair match YOU. I had walked by a few times and finally walked in. It's colorful, upbeat and fun -- yet also very laidback and approachable. This is a sweet patch on Second and William, where there's cool coffee shops and unique restaurants nearby. And, of course, not far from the Convention Center, too. My haircut took a bit over 30 mins -- which is about 2.5 times longer than SuperCuts takes! Here, nothing felt rushed, the end result was I really like my haircut -- and it was totally a collab all the way. (Even if they do not have SuperCuts prices) Inclusivity is a given here, and though I'm not an SJ resident, Pork Chops' House of Reframe feels original and welcoming in a way that many places don't seem equipped or interested in doing. There's a reason they get booked a couple weeks in advance sometimes. I felt lucky to get in. Though the website is where you are steered to go to set up an appointment, I had better luck by just walking in and seeing in there was any availability. I love finding and supporting local businesses -- even if I am not a local!
I love everything about this salon. Of course, my stylist, Adrianna, is at the top of the list. She's funny, lively, spends time with her clients, is kind, and, like the other stylists in the shop, acknowledges people as they walk by her station, and gives a great cut. She's innovative, but respectful of what I ask for. The whole vibe of Pork Chop's is welcoming, friendly, and professional. Individual stylists staff each station, but Kelly (AKA: Pork Chop), the owner, sets the tone for the business. I love going here even though it means 1.5 hours total in commute time. Yeah, I love getting my hair styled here.
