I was looking to get a haircut before heading out to a wedding in LA and found Lightheaded Studio while researching some places. I usually go to Asian hair salons for a quick and easy cut but I wanted to find someone that could do an actual fade this time around. Set up an appointment online and came in. I didn't know the exact name of the haircut I was getting but used a reference photo and explained how I was trying to do something similar to a textured fringe. My hair at the time was super bulky/round on the sides so I wanted to lessen that as well. Emerson worked with me and got to cutting. He gave a solid fade and was easy to talk to. Shop was clean with just Emerson running it and I'd recommend if in the area. Takes card/venmo as well. Street parking is okay around the area, just make sure you're not blocking driveways or check for street cleaning/time zones. As of October 2024 - $55.00 for a cut
I have been coming here for the past year getting multiple different hair cuts and I can report that Emerson is a very high quality barber. My hair grows extremely fast and his cuts look good while keeping their shape for multiple months. For reference, I have super straight and fine hair with lots of it. Besides his cuts, he's just a really chill and nice dude.
I have been coming to Lightheaded since I moved to the Richmond a couple years back and it has always been a great experience! The barbershop itself is very spacious and accommodating, with a comfy couch if you come early. The appointment booking process is online and relatively painless. I have curly hair (2C/3A) and have been burned before by barbers who don’t know how to deal with the cowlicks etc, but Emerson has never let me down. He has good suggestions for when I want to try out something new, and his fades and tapers are hella clean. And best of all, he has very reasonable prices…can’t recommend this place enough!
