Unexpectedly stopped by this SPCA in summer, 2009. Walked through the front door and immediately made eye contact with a small cat from 20+ feet away. Thyme, a precious calico mix who had been surrendered with her entire litter, went home with me that day. From my childhood visits to the SPCA to now, taking my high school senior daughter here to volunteer, this place has done nothing but wonderful, humane things for our community, animal lovers, and animals of all sorts. A Monterey County gem tucked into the beautiful hills near Laguna Seca. Even if you can't take in or rescue a new companion, this is a great place to visit and at least give them some love.
My boyfriend and I were having lunch on the wharf, when we noticed a juvenile sea gull in distress. It was a very stormy day and it appeared as if he had no chance of surviving on his own. We called the SPCA and within a short time, we got a text the gull had been rescued. He was not able to stay waterproofed and had superficial cuts on his feet. Within days, he was better and he will soon be released back to his home on the wharf. It is such a relief to know the SPCA is there to care for wildlife in distress. Laura was a rockstar and Laura and Mary have been so polite with follow-up. Thanks for all you do!
