“A very overdue wedding review for the incredibly talented Lea! While this is from the MOB, I feel I pull some good weight with an opinion because one, it's harder to make us older people look good, ha, and I paid for hair and makeup for everyone. My daughter (the bride) was so happy with her results, (as was mom!) and both the makeup and hair held up through a hot September wedding. Oh and the photos - wallah! (not sharing cause that's the bride's story to share, but they are fantastic!)
Lea did hair and makeup for the bride, MOB, MOG, MOH, and sister of the groom—and somehow managed to make every single one of us look and feel our absolute best. Everyone looked beautiful, but still completely like themselves, which I think is one of the greatest compliments you can give a hair and makeup artist. Lea listened so well to what the bride wanted, natural with a splash of glam and she delivered it perfectly.
And don’t think Lea can’t possibly be a master of both hair AND makeup, because she absolutely is. She is incredibly talented at both. Hair, makeup, different ages, different styles, different preferences—she just gets it. She listens, she knows what will work, and then she makes it happen beautifully.
But Lea also brought something else to the day that you can’t really put a price on. She is just COOL. My daughter loved that she was calm, confident, fun, easy to be around, and completely unfazed by the activity and emotions of a wedding morning. She added to the experience rather than making it feel like we were all on some sort of beauty assembly line. Getting ready with her was genuinely part of the fun of the day. I could see those two were having a blast while getting ready.
She also knew the venue incredibly well, and that turned out to be such a gift. She knew exactly where to set up and chose a spot where the bride could sit for her hair and makeup overlooking the grounds and actually watch everything being set up for her wedding. What could have just been a few hours of getting hair and makeup done became this really special part of the day—watching everything slowly come together outside while she was getting ready. It was such a thoughtful detail and one of those little memories from the wedding morning that I will always love.
The other artist Lea brought with her was fantastic as well (I forget her name, so sorry)! With five of us getting ready, everything ran smoothly, no one ever felt rushed, and the quality was exceptional across the board. They were both warm, professional, talented, and simply lovely to have there.
And, most importantly, the results were gorgeous. Everything photographed beautifully and lasted through a very long, emotional, happy day of hugs, happy tears, dancing, and celebrating. She stayed the entire day (we had arranged for that) and kept the bride fresh even as we went into the last hour of partying. When one of the sister-in-laws was in the area prior to the ceremony, Lea offered to give her done up too, just because .(it's because she is so sweet and giving)!
When you hire people for a wedding, you quickly realize you’re choosing more than someone's skill, you’re choosing the people who will actually be in the room with you during some of the most personal moments of the day. Lea is exactly the kind of person you want in that room.
Talented, confident, warm, fun, and seriously good at what she does. My daughter had done two (expensive) trials prior to Lea. Three is the charm as they say. We were so lucky to have her be part of such a special day. I (and the bride) would choose Lea again, no doubt.”
