Came with our Belgian sheepdog to take a herding instinct test some time ago. She loved it. We loved it. We were hooked! Herding dogs need a job, and working with her doing the job she was born to do has only deepened our relationship with her. Janna and Paul are excellent trainers who really care about their dogs. Husband started doing it , then I wanted to learn how. Now we have 2 Border Collies as well as our Belgian. Your dog doesn’t have to be purebred to herd sheep. If there’s a herding line of any kind in the genetic mix, your dog can connect to the instinct. It good for them and good for us too!
Drummond Ranch is a rustic ranch nestled into a spacious valley at the top of the Los Angeles National Forest. The focus of the owners and operators is the training of herding dogs of all breeds. While they are heavily invested in border collies which are some of the smartest and best herding dogs in the world, they work with many non-herding breeds as well. This is based upon the premise that dogs descended from wolves and the herding instincts that most dogs have come from the way wolves hunt. It is truly fun to see the variety of dogs who can herd and who love doing it.
