Nelly is a GEM. I needed to get haute couture measurements, and didn't want to fly to Paris or NY just to get measurements. Nelly communicated with me via text throughout the process. She is so sweet. (I don't think she provides custom dressmaking services any longer). The designer provided the chart of measurements he needed, then Nelly FaceTimed with the designer to get the specific measurements he required. Worked like a charm! She was professional, hard working, and listened carefully. Her space is beautiful, spacious, clean, and smells good. The fitting area has ample mirrors, and is blocked off by beautiful curtains so that customers wouldn't see me half naked. I loved being there and getting measured by Nelly didn't feel like a chore. I felt comfortable enough to remove all my clothing around her. Usually, for makeup, photographs, or fittings, I'm very impatient and unhappy, but she immediately got down to work and made the process enjoyable. Nelly's calm environment and professional demeanor helped me to relax. Her pricing is fair, especially for Montecito, and especially for the haute couture demands she went through with me. If she's good enough to collaborate with a famous haute couture house, she's good enough for your tailoring needs. Besides, she used to work for big brands like Nieman Marcus, so she is not afraid of working with luxury brands. Highly recommend Nelly!
I was in town for a wedding, and with hours to spare, needed some serious help with ironing my dress when our AirBnb rental did not have an iron. After calling several tailoring/alteration shops in the area, Nelly came to my rescue! She offered for me to bring my dress in between clients, and was so kind and professional in steaming/ironing my dress on the spot. I felt like I had stepped into an auntie's home who knows just how to take care of business. And just as an auntie would care for anyone, Nelly simply sent me on my way when she was done! If I ever am in the area and need alterations, I would come here without a second thought. Highly recommend for anyone in the area needing an expert in their craft.
I first contacted Nelly (who came highly referred from an expert seamstress down in La Jolla) to repair and almost redesign a Michael Kors signature piece dress that another alterationist felt was too complicated. Nelly exceeded even my highest expectations — she is brilliant and meticulous with an eye toward detail and a deep knowledge of fabrics and couture design. Since then, I have only entrusted Nelly with my alterations, repairs and expert redesign of multiple items in my wardrobe. Everything she touches looks like it was made for me uniquely and fits perfectly .. she is out of this world incredible!
