The minute California Eye Specialists sold out to Azul, everything went completely down hill. I have tried for well over a year to get a copy of my vision record - I've filled out forms twice at the Pasadena office - nothing. I've followed up with phone calls - nothing. Ive called and emailedmultiple times the Azul corporate headquarters - nothing but empty promises. I will never go back, even for a good doctor like Dr. Shelton. What a shame.

I have been disappointed in the california eye center ever since I was referred to them to get authorization for cataract surgery. On july 5, 2023 I went to my regular eye doctor for an eye exam to get new glasses. The doctor said a prescription wouldn't help and wrote the referral for the opthomologist to have cataract surgery. Since I had previously used the California eye center years ago when I had a torn retina, I asked for the referral to be there. I saw the opthomologist in monrovia, Dr. Rex Villegas on september 15th. Even though I could tell I couldn't see well when he did the eye test, he wrote me a prescription for glasses. All the California Eye Specialist clinics are run by a company called Azul. They are very poorly run. I have macular degeneration. I need to get regular injections in each eye at separate visits. After the injection my eye tears and my nose runs profusely, as if I had a very bad cold. I can't do much but sleep. I take pain meds and cold meds to help. Today I tried to cancel an appointment because I have a cold, possibly Covid, haven't tested yet. The soonest appointment I could get is more than a month away. I need to keep on my schedule of injections every 7-8 weeks apart. That is for the benefit of my eyes and vision. Without the injections, I could go blind eventually....read full review
