I have been going to sooooo many hair salons in Long Beach trying to get a straight bob and none was able to do a good job. I've been so desperate for a nice, decent haircut to the point that I had cried, was literally stressed out, getting sick/sleepless nights. I went to a salon on Tuesday 6/18/24 and still wasn't happy with what the hairstylist did. I happened to call Salon Soma and Tula was very nice over the phone and said I could stop by so she can look at it. I did within a few minutes and Tula did an AMAZING job. I have been going to Salon Soma for the past 3 years to get my roots colored by Tula, who also happens to be the owner of the salon. First of all, I love this location right in the heart of Belmont Shore. It's right off 2nd Street so you are close to all of the shops, but don't have the noise of the traffic since you are on a side street. The salon itself is bright and airy and always decorated so nicely. I had been getting my hair done by the same colorist for many years in the San Fernando Valley and made the switch to Tula during the pandemic. Tula has done a great job at maintaining my bright orange hair color and is always fun to chat with when I'm in her chair. Her salon has been there for 30 years and I hope it stays for 30 more!
I was a walk in and everyone was very kind. My hair stylist was Hollie and she is amazing! She's very intuitive and takes in your wants and explains everything as she's doing it. I'm a definitely a person who is intimidated on going to hair salons, even nail salons. I have a hard time connecting w my specialist, typically feel awkward but Hollie was super kind and made me feel comfortable as she did my hair and it turned out great! I have very long hair and wanted to keep the idea of long hair but with layers and she did an awesome job and made sure every was blended nicely. Call and ask for Hollie in advance because she's only there two to three days but she really does do an amazing job.
