“As a pround Stocktonian I love history and this place is truly a test of time. Did Y'all know that this building was built in the very early 1910's yes ladies and gentlemen the first decade of the turn of a century. Then even after the hard hit of the great depression the Rose Barbershop surpassed the 1920's and long long after. Think about it this place got to see the early years of the Ford Boom, The Gold miner days, the last of the ending era of true cowboys who ventured into Stockton. That's just a part of some history this Barber shops catered to the Filipino society as well then The Grand Stockton Hotel. So mush history surrounds this place. It has been a plaxe of community, friends, family for 109 years and counting the new owner Steven had done a marvelous job on restoration on this beautiful land mark. The Golden Rose Barber shop is not JUST the oldest functional Barber shop in California BUT it is both the oldest, one of the few first barber shops still operating since 1917 west of the Rockies. I think the Barber shop however was tsking customers several years before 1917. This still is so very cool.
