Being in the Flat Glass Industry for the last 29 years I was fortunate enough to attend a 3 day seminar and take a tour of one of the largest flat glass manufacturers in the world. My coworkers and other invites attended a 3 day seminar on Glass Fundamentals which reviewed the history, optical, performance, fabrication. Installation of product offerings and the future of innovative glass products. We toured this plant which under the roof is just shy of one million square feet and witnessed the complete manufacturing process from raw materials that were formed into glass sheets which is called a float process. The float line runs 24/7 for a life span of 10 to 12 years before it's rebuilt. We also saw how low e coatings are applied on to commercial and residential glass products which keep the heat outside of your office building or residence while keeping your heating cost manageable in the colder northern climates. I'm appreciative to be in such a specialized industry and to be surrounded by so many talented and intelligent personnel in our industry. There were many new employees and clients that were attending the class that toured the plant and I could see the amazement in their faces. They were blown away by witnessing the manufacturing process as was I -which is amazing!!! Thank you Guardian Industries for an excellent educational experience, generosity and being a great supplier!
