My son has been attending United Studios of Self Defense in Half Moon Bay since he was five (now 7yo). It’s had such a positive impact on him. He’s become more confident, more resilient, and it even gave him the tools to stand up to a bully once. The studio is run by Sensei Angelo who sets a strong tone through consistency, energy, and example. He’s firm when needed, and he doesn’t hesitate to raise his voice to get the kids’ attention, but it’s never harsh or demeaning. There’s no fear or shame, just structure, consistency, and respect. Writing this review now as my daughters have attended USSD with Sensei Kevin and Kate for the last 18 months. The five star review is not taken lightly by me and they've earned the excellent review. Overall it's a straight-forward, honest small business that also has the support of a large national organization. I imagine the support of the national organization helped the training continue throughout the tough covid times. The effort and flexibility of Kevin and Kate was spectacular and greatly appreciated. Kevin at Ussd Half Moon Bay is a good instructor and business man. He cares about his students and parents. He is always willing to help and makes students better. We are proud to have him at Half Moon Bay.
