“They are so friendly and the best price I found! I had purchased a long, unlined overcoat from old navy ($38), and wanted 8” off the length. I got quotes off yelp ranging $45-60, which I was willing to pay but fortunately took one last chance at J’s tailoring. I walked in with my coat and when they quoted me $40, I was elated. They had it ready in one week and I’m super happy with the alteration and service.“

Always wears down those expensive soles, like these Doc Martens, too fast! And, feel lopsided steppin, so gonna try the steel plate, see how long they hold. “This was one of my favorite experiences, not because it was proximite. Not because they did the best job of any cleaner I've ever known, and I live in Tiburon and still opted to come down here when I would work from my Peninsula office. It was that good.But the 5 stars was for Jeff. I wanted to leave this here before a new owner comes in. Jeff always had a smile, always remembered your name, asked questions about life, and over the last 20 years became a good friend, a constant before, during, and after the pandemic, and I only wish I could have said goodbye. Taken from us far too young, a major life experience for me, and a major source of joy, will be leaving with Jeff, and if any of his family or friends were to research him, in this time of grieving, I wanted this out there that he was a major impact on our community, a shining light of friendly and kind spirit, and a wonderful business owner that added so much to our little San Mateo. “I have used this place for more than 20 years and have never had a bad experience there. The owner works hard at doing excellent work and takes pride in it. When I've taken things in that are stained or that need to be altered, she's always come through for me. Now don't get wrong, if she disagrees with me about something I want done, she'll let me know that she thinks I'm making a mistake (I once wanted something altered for a specific purpose and she pointed out that after the alteration it wouldn't be good for anything else, but that was fine with me). Our dry cleaning always comes back looking great. She knows her business and is quick to point out fabrics that will need special care.“
